Introduction to Basics and Challenges of Opinion Mining

Abstract

Our decisions and perception of reality depend noticeably on others view and opinion of us. Most people need others’ opinion that have knowledge or experience to make decisions especially in cases where decisions need to be made about something unknown and new. This fact also holds for simple customers to high ranking managers of industries and different organizations who need to understand their customers’ view and opinion about them and their rival companies. Because of this, in the last decade, a new field of study has been created in NLP science by the name of Opinion Mining. Opinion mining is one of the newest fields of research in NLP, information retrieval and document mining. Due to rapid growth of the volume of text of peoples’ opinion (in comment sections of electronic shops or news sites, forums, group chats, social networks and weblogs), and creation of many survey sources and different comments about single entity, the process of extracting and processing opinions from reliable sources has become very difficult. Thus, the purpose of opinion mining is automatic extraction, categorization, and summarization of comments and opinions about different features of an entity or specific event from a reliable source.

Process Mining

Abstract

Nowadays, process mining techniques which can extract knowledge from the logged process’s events are usually used in information systems. These techniques include new methods to discover, monitor and improve processes in different use cases. There are two important reasons for the daily increase of tendency toward process mining: on one hand, the volume of recorded events is growing daily and thus, there is more information to study on process. On the other hand, the need for improving and supporting commercial processes in a competitive atmosphere is increasing. Many organizations have gradually created warehouses of business processes which act as knowledge bases for business process management. Managing this big warehouse needs practical searching methods. For example, when adding a new process model to the warehouse, it must be check that a similar model does not already exist in the warehouse to prevent duplicate insertion. Also, when merging two companies, similar processes must be detected to measure their overlap. These tasks need a process model to be retrieved according to their similarity toward a given search model. Another growing field of process mining is efficient segmentation of business processes to detect useful segments to reuse them in creating future business processes. There are many reasons for process segmentation. Some of them are the ability to run distributed process models by dividing them into process parts which can be run in different locations. Summarizing process models in a way that only the most important components of the process is shown. Reuse parts of an existing process in other process models. Increasing the speed of process model development and to simply understanding the model.

BDI-based Multi Agent Programming Using Jadex

Abstract

In recent years, using cognitive models in design and implementation of agents to simulate real environments has gained a lot of researchers’ and programmers’ attention. The main advantage of these models is how their logic is close to human’s problem-solving methods. One of the proposed cognitive models is based on belief, intent and design called BDI. In this workshop this model will be discussed and also, Jadex tool which supports this model will be introduced. We conclude this workshop with an example solve with this model and programming in Jadex.
