Process mining

Process mining is a rather new topic that is in-between of computational intelligence and data mining on one hand, and process modeling and analysis on the other. The purpose of process mining is to monitor and improve real process through extracting knowledge from readable data stored in today’s information systems. Data mining’s classic techniques such as clustering, classification, rule discovery and etc. are not focused on business process models and are used, only in an specific step during a bigger process, and only for analysis. Process mining is focused on end-to-end process. And it is possible because accessible event data are growing more and more everyday along with rule discovering techniques and consistency checking techniques.
